This year’s Annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism is February 12, 2008 in Bangor, the gateway city to The Maine Highlands and The DownEast regions. We invite you to

In 2004 revenues from domestic tourism totaled $531 million in state and local taxes while domestic visitors to Maine directly and indirectly generated $13.6 billion in sales of goods and services, 176,600 jobs and $3.8 billion in total payroll. Chances are your company directly or indirectly felt the effect of these numbers because tourism has become an integral part of Maine’s economy. Tourism has a broad reach…it helps keep our historical and cultural sights vibrant and alive; it contributes to the conservation, protection and sustainability of our natural wonders; it provides educational and career opportunities for our children; it creates recreational opportunities for residents; and it contributes millions to Maine’s general fund to support education, social and natural resource programs.
